Galvanization is a finishing process for steel. The material is dipped in molten zinc, creating a protective skin over raw metal that would otherwise corrode due to atmospheric conditions. The corrosion of zinc is very slow + offers outstanding resistance to corrosion.
Powder coating is a thermoplastic polymenr in the form of free-flowing dry powder. it is applied electrostatically before a heat curing process.
metalco uses AISI 304 or 304L stainless steel. Type 304's composition is 18% chromium + 8% nickel. Type 304L is the extra-low carbon version of 304, with greater corrosion resistance. Electropolishing is an electrochemical process used to polish, passivate + deburr the metal.
Corten steel, also known as weathering steel, is made from a group of steel alloys that eliminate the need for painting + develops a rust-like appearance when exposed to the elements. Using Metalco's anti-washout treatment is recommended to prevent lead-oxide transfer + staining of pavers, walls + surrounding materials.
To achieve the best protection against corrosion, all components made of aluminium are pre-treated and passivated prior to powder coating.
Bega uses marine-grade, copper free aluminum in their die-cast & extruded aluminum products.
Pietre di Marmo is a mixture of reconstituted granite or marble stone mixed with a specialized polyester resin, combining the strength + durability of composite materials with the beauty of natural stone.
UHPC is a revolutionary product made of a mixture of ultra high performance reinforced concrete fiber with organic plastics. This material is extremely malleable in liquid form, allowing freedom in design. UHPC has exceptional technical + structural performance + durability.
HPC is a mixture of performance-reinforced concrete, with carefully selected granite or marble aggregates. The difference between HPC + UHPC is that there is a higher ratio of cement added to the fibers + resins. HPC has excellent durability, technical + structural performance.
Metalco uses only responsibly forested hardwoods (angelim armogoso, okume'+ iroko). Many of their new collections are made with larch, a sustainably-grown wood similar in color to pine. A wood plastic composite material is available with the Harris seating + Harris Isola products only.
Okume is a soft hard wood from Africa. It can be steamed + bent into sculptural shapes as seen Metalco's sedis torsion + moonstone seats. Okume' is generally used in veneer form.
Larch is a durable + decay-resistant wood that is sustainably grown for Metalco products in central Europe. You will find larch as an option on many of Metalco's new products.
Ipe is an exotic hardwood that is 8 times harder than California redwood + is naturally resistant to decay. it is responsibly forested + harvested by Metalco suppliers.
